I do like dragonflies, they are such cool creatures, and this Four-spotted Skimmer (Libellula quadrimaculata) is one I photographed on the shore of an unnamed lake north of Grand Rapids, MN. An extremely widespread species, they are also found in Europe and Asia where they are known as Four-spotted Chaser.
Dragonflies are one of the oldest known insects on the planet, with fossils dating back to the Upper Carboniferous some 325 million years ago. Another interesting fact is that, like all insects, they are equipped with six legs, dragonflies cannot walk (You call that “intelligently designed”? I think not).

Awesome.
