We did very well with last week's bird which was a Ruby-crowned Kinglet, congratulations! For this week we go back to the beach and another darned gull. And, just for fun, extra credit if you can tell me the age the bird would appear with this plumage variation.
I think that what you have in the "Friday Quiz 36" is a Lesser Black-backed Gull. ie L.fuscus but graellsii rather than L.f.fuscus. For age, my belief is that it is an adult bird in its basic winter plumage.
