I hate that, too.
Today I picked up 4 beer cans (which were almost certainly from the same "users" of the forest), an empty donut box, and several plastic bags in a 2 mile stretch of forest road. I could have done more but had an appointment and had to get back. Just because it is "public" land doesn't mean you can trash it like you do your yard or house. Sheesh.
